Official: Naive to expect China to supply Russia with equipment

BEIJING, Apr 20 (PRIME) – Thinking that while Europe boycotts Russia China will sell equipment to it is naive, head of the regional office of the East Asia Trade and Commerce Chamber Ivan Izotov said on Wednesday.

"It is at least naive to suppose that while Europe has turned away from Russia, a flood of consumer equipment, for instance, will come from China. We should keep in mind that almost 80% of the goods of the European brands are assembled in China under licenses, and China has to get permits from the rights owners to deliver that equipment," Izotov said.

The official also warned against statements that the Chinese companies would create many jobs in Russia because in such industries as car servicing it is easier to bring in workers from China.

A rapid retargeting of grain exports to China is impossible, because there are risks that Russia will fail to satisfy internal demand and demand of its traditional grain importers, such as the countries of Middle East.

The official said that at the same time, China would not do anything bad to Russia. "I am more than sure that China will not allow itself to behave meanly politically," he said, adding that the country will not introduce any restrictions without a warning.
